My name is Vinita Pappas. I am an artist and I live in beautiful southern Oregon with my husband Nick, son Chase, daughter Hannah and our yellow lab, Tessie. We live in a historic 130 year old farm house on 50 acres, our own little piece of paradise! We are a typical American family, a blended mix all with different interests and hobbies, from vintage race cars to sports, drama, band and of course art. I’m fortunate that my family is very supportive of me. They are my number one fans! I’m very blessed to have a wonderful family, a beautiful home and the opportunity to be an artist.
As a painter, my goal is to express the joy, romance and passion of everyday life. In my paintings I like to capture common moments; doing farm chores, sharing coffee, going window shopping. There is a romance to our daily events that is often overlooked. I absolutely love the medium of watercolor. There is an immediacy and directness to it that suits my personality. I want my paintings to feel as fresh as a freshly picked raspberry. I believe watercolor is the ideal medium for expressing the Oregon environment with it’s ever-changing beauty.
Last night was the opening reception for the Mirror Pond Gallery National Pastel and Watercolor Exhibit in Bend, OR. I was thrilled and honored to be chosen for the Cascade Arts and Entertainment Cover Award. The award, worth $1,200 means that the painting will be on the magazine cover in November 2009. I was also [...]

Yesterday I joined 5 other area artists at the Duck Pond in Roseburg. The clear blue skies and gorgeous fall colors made it a perfect day for painting. I’m not very experienced at painting water, but at a duck pond, what else can you paint? It was an enjoyable day! Hopefully the weather will cooperate [...]
I finished this watercolor/acrylic painting last week. I painted it for a juried show coming up through the Umpqua Valley Arts Association, called Black and White. I will let you know if the painting is accepted!
I enjoy abstracts because I can play around with the paint. Without too much of an intended design, it’s nice [...]
In today’s issue of the News Review you’ll see an article about me in the Currents. Cara Pallone wrote a great story about me and my recent win in the Hundred Valleys Exhibit at the Umpqua Valley Art Association. Cara is a sweet person, very friendly and easy to talk to. At the [...]

Earlier this year, I was asked by my friend Phil Bates if I was interested in filming an instructional watercolor DVD. YES! Of course I was interested. After a couple of meetings and a lot of brainstorming we filmed the DVD on a COLD weekend in January. I have never been in [...]
